Willy Muhammad Fadly, or I usually mention him as Kang Will, is my first photographer to assist. Actually before him there were several people I've assist, but he's the first professional photographer I ever assisted. He worked under a group called Bunda Susie Photo Studio. His clients are quite famous and the studio is pretty well known. He studied interior design in 2005 at ITENAS.
On the first day of working together he wasn't amused knowing a girl would be his assistant a whole day long. Well, our first meeting is about 3 years ago. So basically I was just 13 or 14 y.o and currently in middle school. No wonder why he gave me such disapproving and confused look. I wouldn't like having an underage kid as my assistant either.
Thank God and thank Will for the opportunity, it wasn't the last time I assisted him. We kept working together until now. But unlike the first time we met, he changed a lot from a mean looking photographer to a friendly mentor. If I were asked to work in famous studio or be his full-time assistant, I definitely would choose him. He helped me overcoming problems during the photo session. And I guess that's the type of mentor I need. At the end of the day I'm grateful that he gave me second chance to prove myself. He's one of many who shaped the better me.
