I was never a fan of Iqbaal CJR. I knew he was going abroad to continue his study, but I wasn't really concerned about that. Later, about two months ago I heard about an IB program called UWC from a Youtube video.
Now I am a second grader of high school and I really wanted to study abroad, so I went through the internet and looking for universities that match my interest. I found about 10 universities that really 'me' but I was shocked when I found out that the tuitions are around 50,000 USD per year. My intention in going abroad to study was because there is no university in Indonesia with a good Film Production major.
At that time I was about to give up upon my dreams of studying abroad, but then I accidentally opened a video by Hana Nabilah Fatinah. In that video she shared her experince studying abroad for free, the program she applied for was UWC. Which is a IB program for grade 11-12, anyone that is 16-19 years old able to apply. But, I did not follow up to the program.
Then my curiousity kicks in, I stalked Iqbaals' instagram account and found out that he is a student of UWC as well. So, I made my mind and I learned more about this interesting program.
UWC (or United World Colleges) is a global educational movement with the mission to "make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future." UWC offers any teenagers with any socio-economic background a 2 years IB program at one of its 17 school around the world. The school also offers both partial and full schoolarship.
What makes me really into this program is not only focusing in the academic goals, UWC prepare its students to be the world future leaders with a wide knowledge and kind heart.

The first United World College located in Wales, UK. And the newest one are in Thailand and Japan. Most UWCs' school lacated in Europe, there are 7 schools.
They are UWC Atlantic College (Llantwit Major, Wales, United Kingdom), UWC Adriatic (Duino, Italy), UWC Red Cross Nordic (Flekke, Norway), UWC Mostar (Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina), UWC Maastricht (Maastricht, Netherland), UWC Robert Bosch College (Freiburg, Germany) and UWC Dilijan (Dilijan, Armenia).
In Asia there are six schools, UWC South East Asia (Singapore), Li Po Chun UWC of Hongkong (Wu Kai Sha, Hong Kong), UWC Mahindra College (Village Khubavali, India), UWC Changshu (Changshu, China), UWC Thailand (Phuket, Thailand) dan UWC ISAK Japan (Karuizawa, Japan).
Meanwhile there are only three school in America, Pearson College UWC (Victoria, British Columbia, Canada), UWC-USA (Montezuma, New Mexico, USA) and UWC Costa Rica (Santa Ana, Costa Rica).
Waterford Kamhlaba UWC of Southern Africa (Mbabane, Swaziland) is the only UWC in African continent.
To apply for UWC there are two ways. First is through global selection, if you apply from this site you will not able to get UWCs' scholarship. And the second is through national comitee. The differences between global selection and NC is the probability to get accepted. If you take the global selection the chance for accepted in the school you want is higher, but you could only choose between 2 or 3 school you most like. If you take the national comitee application you will have to enlist your preference (you will have to write number 1-17 for each school, from the one you like the most until the least).
The application for global selection and national comitee starts on December each year. If you afraid that you will forget to apply, you can sign up your email to www.uwc.fluidreview.com
For further information you can check it on www.uwc.org or check my next post. See Y'all!
